We wanted to create this resource of 'Previously Asked Questions' (PAQ) to help provide users with regularly updated information about our service offerings. This way we could keep an information resource accessible to our online visitors; one that would be available 24 hours a day.
The page has been split into dual sections. One half is focused on our Commercial & Professional options, while the other half is focused on our Modelling & Portfolio options. If you have a question after reviewing the responses below; please feel free to contact us by using the relevant button (provided below each section).
Unfortunately we do not offer wedding packages, but we do consider wedding & event photography to be viable as part of our Commissioned Service option. We can price your wedding or event based upon the details we will ask you. So why not let us know more about your special day, and we will work out what we can do for you!
We do not provide prints for this package but we do provide 'Digital Finals' available on CD/DVD, USB Memory Drive or available for Download from our Dropbox. All finals come with multiple pre-sized options for print, are designed for use online and are accompanied by a complimentary 'Copyright Permission' that allows clients to print the final imagery; as they require.
We do not tend to work to limits, only providing the best images available from our captures. However we do try to provide as much range as possible on all of our Professional Services options, without sacrificing quality.
Indeed we do! Check out the information provided with each option; see below the contact/booking button to review all Optional Extra choices and information.
We offer professional clients a '30 Day' Invoice option after we have completed our first job with them. Prior to that time we will only offer a '7 Day' Invoice option for the first job to ensure that we develop an effective working connection. After the first successful job has been completed we offer professional clients an automatic discount on our next Commissioned Service with them; as a way of saying a 'Thank You' for choosing us.
If you are looking for a fixed package then we would suggest the 'Social Media Marketing Content' package as this helps to provide you with content designed to promote you and/or your output. Although this is fine for a significant percentage of clients from these categories, If you are looking for a more versatile option, we would advise contacting us with your needs so that we can provide you with a commissioned quote - obligation-free.
We do not currently offer family portraits or new born photography as a specific package, but we do consider specialist jobs such as 'Digital Group Shots' for larger Families and 'Family Event Capture' as a Commissioned Service.
The price is unaffected as retouching options are an 'Optional Extra' and do not come as standard on our 'Headshots & Staff Identification' package.
We like to offer an accurate 'CPD (Completed Project Delivery)' date to enable our clients to be able to plan around our contribution to their needs. The date is made up from an evaluation of our existing workload, the complexity of the job and is firmly fixed to ensure we keep to our side of the deal. However, we may be able to provide you with a faster turnaround if necessary, but this is considered a 'Priority Turnaround' and is charged as such. The Priority Turnaround charge is worked out commensurate with the complexity of the job and is fairly applied by calculating the chargeable dates reduced between the previously agreed CPD, and the newly requested CPD.
Video is available within our Social Media Marketing Content package, but it is edited mainly for short form usage (Snapchat, Instagram etc) and for use on other social networks. You can also tell us more using our Commissioned Service option and we can help you get a tailored quote instead.
We do not offer a price match or promise to beat other photographers prices. This is because we believe that choosing a photographer should be less like shopping in the supermarket and more like buying a watch. We have been lucky that traditionally our clients are quite discerning when it comes to choosing a brand for their needs, and while we may not be the cheapest - we are definitely in contention for being one of the best. We strive to price our services fairly and we work to trim any fat from our quotes to ensure we always offer the best price possible.
We do provide a discounted rate for Schools, Colleges and Universities and said discount is only applicable to our Commissioned Service option. Please contact us using your education establishments E-mail address (i.e: email@example.com) to initially qualify. We will reply shortly, letting you know what we can do for you!
We do provide a 10% discount on all of our Photographic Services and all of our Model Services (with the exception of our Test Shoots) when appropriate documentation and identification has been provided to prove regular attendance at a recognised educational establishment.
Unfortunately we do not at time of writing. If we ever decide to do so we will provide an updated answer right here in our Service PAQ.
We are not currently hiring new photographic staff (at time of writing), but any vacancies will be promoted. It is advisable to follow us on all of our various social media presences, as we will often debut news and opportunities there first.
This is another one of those questions that we get regularly and just like the 'famous people' question; the answer is both somewhat simple and somewhat complex - so we will do our best to explain. We are able to shoot on pretty much any camera that is capable of taking an image! As such, we tend to use whatever camera is closest or preferred when shooting work for ourselves. When we are shooting for our clients, we tend to use either a Professional Full Frame DSLR and/or a High Resolution compact/Mirrorless system - depending on the requirements of the job. This is mainly due to the flexibility that such kit provides us in our post production efforts. We primarily utilise bodies and lenses from Nikon, Sony, Canon and Hasselblad and we also use Sigma lenses on some of our portrait work and enjoy using Zeiss lenses, whenever we get the opportunity to break them out.
We work across a range of formats including from Digital Full Frame (FX) and APS-C (DX), to 35mm film and Medium Format film cameras. We have found that people who 'passionately' profess the superiority of one format/camera over another tends to be suffering from some form of bias. While this isn't always true of every case, we are strong believers in just using what seems right for the concept or the job. We respect anyone that uses any device, format or 'apparatus' to express themselves artistically. Whatever your flavour - it's all good!

We are not a big fan of fake tan, fake nails or fake eyelashes - and for good reason. We understand and appreciate that some people prefer to present themselves with such styling in their daily lives, however for our work we prefer that people arrive as natural as possible. Fake tan can severely affect our retouching services, as unseen streaks, lines and drips may escape the eye - but they're unlikely to escape the camera. We are happy to discuss our position and entertain options in support of the use of fake products on a 'case to case' basis.
We do not provide all captured images on a disc, USB drive or any other storage medium because we own the imagery captured and understand that we must present our best work. In addition, part of our service includes a professional selection completed by our team from each shoot, on behalf of the client, and in line with our quality assurance standards. We do not provide any file formats other than .TIF (Exhibition & Print only) .PNG ('Model Services' preferred file option) and .JPG (our most commonly used format), unless specifically agreed upon during our consultation. The type of file format provided is based upon the needs of the commission and/or the type of service purchased.
At time of writing, the only Optional Extra available for the Test Shoot option is our:
'Commercial' Retouching & High Definition Print Upgrade (+£20)
(a naturally styled, commercial level retouching process and print to celebrate your experience)
Although we will happily meet you alongside your Partner, we do not allow them to be on the shoot if they are not participating. We have no issue with them waiting nearby, but we have found that models often perform better when we reduce the amount of people on location to just essential participants. Although we respect and celebrate love to the highest order, we are sure that love can survive a short break from one another in the wider scheme of things.
Unfortunately no; but here's why.
Legally you are an adult now and although we are happy for your Parent to escort you to and from a shoot; we do not permit them to be present on the shoot itself (except in situations where a disability may need additional/specialist support). The reason for this is two fold; the first is that we have found that having extra bodies on location can negatively affect the models performance, particularly on test & first time shoots. The second is more of an issue around confidence development. As an adult, people that would ideally seek to enter a career in modelling could be disadvantaged by insisting on a parent attending a casting opportunity or a commercial shoot. In our experience this action can negatively affect your image and can compromise the development of your professional independence. For models under 16, we insist that a Parent/Guardian be present for all shoots. We evaluate the best course of action for models aged 16-18 which is informed by the preference of the Parents, and is operated in line with our 'Safeguarding' Policy.
Unfortunately we do not provide this service, nor do we plan to do so. We see our work with you as a 'creative partnership' and as such, our part of that partnership is to make sure we only select the very best work for your finals. We have a combined team experience of over 20 years portfolio editing (selections) and curation for a wide range of clients, as well as consistently shown throughout our own work. We promise not to select imagery that we feel would detrimentally affect your identified needs or would in any way risk work that could potentially be considered as a negative representation of your image.
There is no service on offer from anyone that can GUARANTEE automatic career success in any particular field. As we have learned throughout the years, we can only provide you with the opportunity to develop your performance skills and help to steer you in the best direction. As with any other interest - the rest is down to you. This is due to personal elements beyond our control such as: your determination, your effort and your focus as well as your investment in self and an appreciation of the business aspects attached to modelling. Strangely enough, we get this question a fair amount which always baffles us because we are unsure of the correlation between being good at what we do and 'celebrity' capture. The short answer however is yes we have indeed - ranging from professional models, established entertainers and a few well known social personalities. As part of our commitment to the anonymity of private commissions, we do not publicly reveal our working relationships with our clients within this category. Although the website does house a fair amount of our legacy work, we do not include all commissioned projects online. This is due to our commitment to client privacy and is in accordance with the terms & conditions for distribution that we have agreed upon during Commissioned Service.
Not at all - we also work with Male models and enjoy capturing them at their very best, just like we do with Females! We have found that there is a larger Female interest in modelling and as such this is commensurate with the percentage of Female representation within the commercial photographic industry. We are very keen on 'equality' at N Anthony Mason and as a result we seek to create work that allows for as diverse a range of individuals as available to us. We want to be able to create work with as many variations in Gender, Ethnicity and Cultural Diversity as we can and we see it as being an important aspect of the society we want our imagery to represent. We would like to be able to capture and share images that include a wide range of different people, from all walks of life, shapes, sizes, abilities and disabilities with others who also appreciate the bond of our Humanity.
Yes. Why on Earth would it not be? We want you to find the confidence in you, and if that confidence can be found within your true/chosen representation - we would be happy to help you show it! We would be honoured to be able to support those who are on a transformative journey; no matter whether said journey be made spiritually or physically.
We ask our clients to apply for our Model Coaching options because it's a service that we will only offer to those who are committed to the idea of improving upon their talents, and learning/engaging how to appreciate themselves. We are always honest with our clients and we help to identify the best market for their unique looks and/or preferred styling. We also pride ourselves on helping new models to correctly assess their own talents without bias (positive or negative) to maintain a truer representation of self. For this to work; we must all be prepared to capitalise on our investments, and recognise the value of what we bring to the table.
For those that do not know; we sign up to ten models a year to an 'Exclusivity Agreement' that provides them with free Model Coaching. These models are often the first choices for us when we are creating our own conceptual projects and when we are casting models for shoots for our clients. We provide an open application process to become an 'Exclusivity Model' once a year and although we rarely change our line up within that year, we will sometimes invite models to join our shortlist for automatic contention for the next round.
Indeed. A common myth created by peoples experience of make-over studios is that your clothing will be provided for you on your photo shoots. Now while this is true of client based work, this is rarely the case on traditional portfolio packages and/or non-paid assignments. We do enjoy the benefits of partnerships with clothing providers, stylists and other lifestyle service providers, especially as these links are often provided to models completing our Modelling & Portfolio options. However, while we do not provide outfits as standard, we will work with you to help you find the most effective style for your look - made from a photo review of your existing wardrobe and advising you on your future styling purchases (where we are invited to do so).
Not as standard, but it can be arranged. We have close working relationships with Make-Up Artists and Hair-Stylists across the country, so it is not hard for us to be able to provide their compatible services on our shoots. These services are considered an 'Optional Extra' option as they are not included in any package/option as standard.
At time of writing, we are seeking a competent production house to help us with our specific print needs, and to produce our newer concepts for our 2018 output. We exclusively licence a small selection of our work for commercial use, but we are currently reviewing viable logistical options that would enable us to ship our work directly to our customers. If you would like to talk about purchasing a specific piece, set or collection, please feel free to contact us by using the button at the end of this section.
As the photographers, we own the copyright of the work in accordance with the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Your signature on our Model Release form is simply your acknowledgement of this fact - it doesn't change or affect the legal status of our copyright. We also promise within the release that we will not use your image in a derogatory or pornographic way (not that we ever would). This is designed to ease any fears held by those who have previously endured unprofessional experiences, with less reputable photographers/organisations.
Yes - but it all depends on how often you smoke.
Over 15 years of retouching we have found staining on lips, teeth, fingernails, fingertips and on one more recent occassion: a neck. People who consider themselves as 'social smokers' (only smoking on nights out on weekends) are less likely to have these stains, but heavier smokers will most definitely have some traces of them. We are happy to advise on a 'case to case' basis, but we insist that models do not smoke on shoots and we prefer that they do not smoke for at least 2 hours before a shoot.
We do not force anybody to do anything they do not want to do on any of our shoots. We take model comfortability very seriously as we prefer to work in partnership with models, as opposed to simply expecting them to just 'perform' like some photographers. Models under 18 are not permitted to be captured in underwear. Models between 16-18 may be permitted to shoot in Bikini's and appropriate Beach Wear, but only with the written consent of their Parent/Legal Guardian. Models over 18 have the option to include underwear in their portfolios, if they feel able or wish to further develop their performance skills. Models over 18 who are signed to an 'Exclusivity Contract' will be expected to perform in this area as part of their ongoing skills and portfolio development commitments. This is explained to them before their signing.
Chances are excellent that you have not as we have only recently brought this option into our operation (2015). If you have shot with us before you would have signed a 'Model Release' form which is a separate form to our 'Exclusivity' based offerings. Each 'Exclusivity Agreement' automatically expires 365 days after signing, with a re-signing being offered prior to expiration. We have only ever allowed one Exclusivity Agreement to lapse and this was unfortunately due to difficulties communicating that were based at the model's end and beyond our control. For reasons such as this: we reserve the right to cancel an 'Exclusivity Agreement' at anytime during the length of the contract, without penalty and without notice.
